In Latin mensa means table. And Latin is the foundation of all the romanic languages (Spanish is one of them). And the noun "mensa" doesn't excist in Spanish. There's only an adjective "menso, mensa" which means dumb. And what jkristina meant was that Ellen is a member of the MENSA INTERNATIONAL organization, an organization for people with a high IQ. The logo of this organization resembles a table, well not the whole logo but a part of it. And that's on purpose.
