I agree. However as a 美國佬 =P, I will say my experience in my city shows me a difference in people from mainland (China) as compared to people from HK and Taiwan. I would feel that ethnicity is the same mostly, but big difference in personalities and attitudes. I've also noticed people from HK and Taiwan will hang out together, but not usually with mainland people, and vice versa.

Well, techincally Lee Hom is American. American born Chinese if you wish, but still born and raised American. At least as an American, I can't say it is better or worse to be considered Taiwanese vs. Chinese. Ethnically they are the same. On an unrelated note, I wish China would return to traditional writing like Taiwan and HK still use.

Jane Zhang is the best! 6 months ago, I didn't even know her existence. I watched this video because of the Olympics. The quality of her voice and her demeanor in her brief appearance in this video immediately caught my attention. So I searched for her on youtube. Wow, She is a rare talent.

I can see it both ways. Though i personally like traditional better, one has to remember the historical significance of simplified. Simplified was created to make literacy and reading more accessible to the average person. So i can see why people would want to keep simplified.
